Storyboard
To start, we came up with a draft storyboard to
figure out the flow of the animation.

Timing Maps
We then had to make a timing map to see how many seconds we needed for each
part. However, we had issues trying to time everything under 1 minute. In
the end, we decided to try to block out the parts first.

After blocking it out, along with consulting with the teacher, we
decided to cut some unnecessary scenes. Transition scenes would go faster,
and some steps would be combined into one. We made sure to focus on
clarity along with aesthetics when making the final animation.

Animatic
After finalizing the storyboard and timing map, we made the animatic
to see the overall flow of the animation. Slight changes were made for
the final animation to better fit the flow.

Assets + Design
The assets were drawn by my teammate, fei. We used Google Drive to share the
files.

Since we used Feilycia's poster as the basis, we also decided to use the
fonts and color scheme previously used.

Process
Here are some videos showing the progression of my parts.

Tomato Sauce (Phase 3)
This phase went smoothly. We decided that the main angle would be an overhead view, except the part where the instructions are to heat to medium.

Preparation Phase
For the first part, the cutting board, I had to try several
variations as I didn't know how to place the ingredients in a
way that is pleasing to the eye. I first tried stretching out
the board, but it looked disproportionate.
Additionally, the original idea for the ingredients part was to
create some sort of supermarket receipt with all needed
ingredients on it. Unfortunately, we felt that it really
disrupted the flow of the video, so we decided to switch to a
supermarket basket instead.

SFX
For the SFX, I mainly used websites like Freesound and Pixabay to find free sounds. I then imported them into AE. My teammate, Feilycia was tasked to compile all the videos. She did so using precomposed files, which made it much neater. Thanks to this, the adding of SFX process went super smoothly.
