Research
Mr Hafiz explained that Task 2 involves creating a world for my character. He also recommended using the "Framed Ink" book as a reference that might help us have a deeper understanding of compositions. For the character, I decided to use the same character I created for Task 1: Vormator Challenge.

Since the character I created is more on the cuter side, I decided to make a background that supports that. Using the "Framed Ink" book, I found out that lines are very important in compositions. Curved lines create softer atmospheres, while straight lines create a stronger and harsher environment.

I also went on Pinterest to find inspiration for the background. One cartoon caught my eye thanks to its art style, Steven Universe. This show has the overall vibe and look I was looking for, so I started searching for their backgrounds.

Ideation
After compiling all those ideas, I came up with a sketch.

Process
After creating the sketch, I started transferring it all to Adobe Illustrator. I started with the clouds first, starting with the darker colors. I then added a gradient in the background to act as the sky, and added the moon, clouds, and star detailing.

Story/Worldbuilding
Although Momoe looks like a harmless, sweet creature, they do pack a punch. With their psychic abilities, Momoe lures clueless creatures into their spell, enchanting them into a deep sleep. These cute creatures take refuge in the clouds, dozing off into a deep sleep as they wait for the day to come once again. Although these creatures are capable of fending for themselves, they are still on the smaller side and may be attacked when they aren't on their guard.

Reflection
Creating a sketch was much easier thanks to the guidance from the "Framed Ink" book. However, I struggled a lot in digitizing the sketch in Adobe Illustrator. When digitizing it, I realized that the overall composition looked flat. Since I am still a beginner in both character design and using Adobe Illustrator, I wanted to find an easy method to add some dimension to the character and the background. I was inspired by the concept of cell shading, which I first found out about when I was playing the game TLOZ. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my work and the findings I was able to discover thanks to the research process in this task.
